About Zainab Bharmal

Hi, my name is Zainab Bharmal—a curious mind that loves exploring science, humans, and health through various lenses.

My journey began with simple questions: why do certain foods affect us differently? How does our body adapt to them? and How can they help us heal? From exploring sugar breakdown in diabetes, to curcumin in turmeric for breast cancer(published research on surface modifications of nanocurcumin complexes and their chemotherapeutic effects on breast cancer), I have tried to deepen my research and understanding for real-life impact.

This has been exemplified by my involvement in Diabetes Care Advocates, a student-led initiative that aims to support and inform teens with type 1 diabetes.

Along the way, I created this ayurveda course with input from several ayurvedic doctors who advocate for teen wellness, even writing e-books on the topic. I believe my course serves as a bridge, connecting the ancient sciences and conveying their ideologies to the new and evolving world.

I believe that science and curiosity should be rooted in empathy and making knowledge accessible to everyone. Whether I am in the lab or designing new initiatives, my goal is simple: to understand others and give back meaningfully.
